Dixon Golf's Earth Golf Ball. Review by Joey O'Connor
What? You haven't heard of Dixon Golf Balls? Well shame on you! Dixon Golf made the first significant innovation in golf in nearly a decade in 2008 when they created the world's first high-performance eco-friendly golf ball - the Dixon "Earth" ball. Unlike other golf balls that use harsh heavy-metal tungsten, cobalt, and lead; this ball (and in fact all balls manufactured by Dixon Golf) is "Green" to the core. It is 100% recyclable and even the packaging they come in is made from 100% recycled material. And shoot, even Dixon Golf's manufacturing facility meets the highest standards of sustainability as it is lit by LED lights, its energy comes in large part from solar panels, it has better air quality and lower VOC's compared to manufacturing facilities of its kind, and even recycles their water. Dixon Golf is a company that is serious about helping the planet!

Yeah, I can hear what you are thinking.... you are thinking the same thing I was at first.... A "recycled" golf ball can't perform very well. Probably doesn't feel very well when you hit it either. Guess what? Wrong! This ball rocks! It really is a good golf ball! Feels good and plays good! But don't just take my word for it! As found on Dixon Golf's website - in independent testing by PGA TOUR Partners Club, the Dixon "Earth" golf ball outperformed the Nike One Platinum, Callaway Tour ix and Titleist Pro V1 and it received an incredible 92% approval rating - the highest ever. A few weeks ago, John Glynn, Dixon Golf's Director of Public Relations, sent me a dozen "Earth" golf balls to try. I first took a sleeve of them them out to the putting green just to see what they would feel like off the putter.... passed.... then I took them just off the green to chip a few with a 7 iron.... passed.... then I backed up about 15 yards and chipped some with a pitching wedge.... passed.... then I backed up another 20 yards and lobbed some to the green with a 60 degree sand wedge.... passed. The next day I went and played nine holes with them. I blasted a few drives, hit some 6 irons into a few greens, and even made a few birdies. The Dixon "Earth" Golf Ball feels pretty dog-gone good. The ball has a good distance to it and it's controllable as well. |
